Flash Clash — a flash fiction writing contest [Now Closed]
Calliope is excited to announce our first ever FLASH CLASH!
We invite writers to submit their most captivating genre flash fictions. Whether you're passionate about sci-fi, dystopian fiction, steampunk, horror, or any other genre, this is your chance to showcase your creativity, storytelling, and pithiness. Our virtual contest doors open May 4th (may the force be with you) and close June 4th. This contest is now closed.

Important points:
- Submissions must be 500 words or less.
- Entries must involve / relate to / reference / draw inspiration from this image shared on May 4th through our social media channels.
- A panel of judges (to be announced in May) will select the first-place winner. All judges’ decisions are final.
- Please send your submissions as a PDF attachment to contest@calliopeinteractive.com using the following guidelines:
-12 pt Times New Roman
-Double-spaced
- Submissions received before or after the contest dates will be immediately disqualified, as will entries that do not adhere to the guidelines.
- You can find our judging criteria here.
Prizes:
- First Place: $300 cash prize, a payment of $0.05 per word, and the opportunity to have your story illustrated, animated, and published on the Calliope Stories app.
- Second Place: A payment of $0.05 per word, along with illustration, animation, and publication on the Calliope Stories app.
Terms and Conditions:
- Participants must be 18 years or older.
- Submissions must be original works that have not been previously published or awarded.
- By submitting, authors grant Calliope an exclusive license to publish the winning and runner-up stories on the Calliope Stories app for the duration of the contest. Authors also grant Calliope a non-exclusive license to post sections of their work on social media with appropriate credit for promotional purposes related to the contest. All copyright remains with the author.
- By submitting their work, authors certify that no AI was used in the creation of their story.
- First and second-place winners will be required to sign Calliope's artist collaboration contract upon announcement.
- Contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the submission guidelines or terms and conditions.
